This website aims to share Asian cuisine, especially Vietnamese Cooking, by presenting Vietnamese families’ daily meals and homemade dishes. Therefore, you will have here an image that is a little, even very, different from the dishes proposed in restaurants in France, in Europe and in countries other than Asia. Don’t be surprised 🙂
I also take advantage of this site to show you, from time to time, some photos of landscapes, cities and daily life in my native country: Vietnam!
Who am I ?
My name is Tu Linh, I am of Vietnamese origin and was born in Vietnam just after the war.
My mother taught me to cook when I was still very young, at 7 years old.
I started cooking simple things like boiled vegetables, or fried fish…
Little by little, my mother taught me to cook more complicated dishes: stir-fries, stews, noodles, cakes, etc.
She also taught me how to prepare the ingredients: how to scale and gut a fish, how to prepare a meat paste, how to make flour (oh yes, at the time you had to prepare most of the ingredients at home, many things were not available on the markets or in the shops, including flour, dishwashing liquids, etc.).
I was the little chef of the house, who guaranteed all the daily meals for the whole family, I was so happy and proud of myself 🙂
Today, I live in France. Very busy with work, I don’t have much time to cook. Therefore, I prefer simple dishes with less preparation steps…. If I ever want to cook a complicated dish, I always try to simplify the recipe as much as possible, to make it as simple and quick as possible.
The passion for cooking still remains in me, I love to cook, to make peoples taste Vietnamese cuisine, to invite people to my house and taste my dishes.
This website is a place where I save and share my homemade recipes. I hope you will enjoy my website and my recipes.
